Croom House Stud is the home of Denis and Joan Brosnan. After the initial purchase of the house, stable yard and fifty acres in 1986, the stud began in a very small way with the purchase of two mares.
Today, the stud comprises two hundred and seventy acres of superb limestone land in the heart of Ireland's famed Golden Vale. The broodmare band now numbers approximately twenty-five, all of which are owned by Epona Bloodstock Ltd. affording a luxurious stocking rate of one broodmare unit per ten acres, thereby providing tremendous range for the horses which are kept out in the paddocks virtually all year round. Sheep and cattle combine with the horses to keep the paddocks clean and fresh and the private nature of the farm means risk of disease is minimised.
Epona Bloodstock Ltd. is the Brosnan family equine company. It owns the broodmare band at Croom House Stud in Co. Limerick and the mares boarding at Kilflynn Farm in Paris, Kentucky.
It also owns the fillies retained and put into racing.
The focus of all our operations is great care and attention to detail in raising top-quality, well-grown thoroughbred yearlings. With this in mind, our facilities and veterinary care are second to none and our staff are experienced, well trained and totally dedicated.
The past few years have been very successful ones for the stud in the sales arena and also, and more importantly, on the racecourse. The farm is a proven source of many black type and Group I winners including:
